Server Technology, voted by our employees 1st Place Best Places to Work, is looking for an experienced Product Safety Engineer. 

The Product Safety Engineer will independently evaluate, test, and certify AC distribution products in accordance with international Product Safety Standards.  This position will provide proactive assistance to identify and resolve product safety issues along with providing timely and accurate test reports and information. What you will do:

  • Perform in house safety evaluations of new and existing low voltage AC power distribution products.
  • Collaborate with certification bodies and test laboratories to drive domestic and international safety projects to completion.
  • Participate in on-site factory inspections by certification bodies.
  • Develop appropriate test procedures to ensure product compliance with safety standards.
  • Communicate changes in standards to all affected departments within the company.
  • Perform safety qualification testing of components, circuit designs, and products.
  • Support the sales team with requests from customers for safety related information.
  • Promote positive company relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting colleagues when appropriate.
  • Display original thinking and creativity; Meet challenges with resourcefulness; Generate suggestions for improving work; Develop innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Display willingness to make decisions; Exhibit sound and accurate judgment; Support and explain reasoning for decisions; Include appropriate people in decision-making process (specifically Department Managers); Make timely decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Electrical Engineering or comparable experience or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience providing engineering support for electronic components; previous experience with UL/CSA 60950 and EN 60950 standards for Information Technology a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate engineering projects and demonstrate engineering technical expertise to a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Project management skills including planning, organizing, meeting facilitation and coordinating tasks.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access).
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management applications.
  • EMC product testing and certification experience a plus.
  • Environmental compliance and component engineering experience a plus.

 Ideal candidate will also have:

  • Passion for technology products and finding solutions for customers.
  • Ability to provide product safety analysis and make recommendations for product enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety engineering protocol.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with decision makers to provide power management solutions.
